In late May, just weeks after adult use legislation was signed into law, regulators released the first set of proposed rules, aimed at aspiring cannabis growers.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham called a special session to “get it done” after a cannabis legalization bill, which passed in the House, stalled in the Senate.
Lawmakers were unable to pass an adult use bill by the end of the session on Saturday. The special session is expected to begin on March 31.
Adult use proposals have been introduced in both the House and the Senate. On Monday, a House committee tabled one bill while advancing another that is more focused on equity.
Despite vocal support from the governor, a Senate committee has tabled the Cannabis Regulation Act.
During her 2020 State of the State address, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham hailed legal cannabis as an economic opportunity for the state.
