NAACP passes resolution on cannabis workers.
Last week, at its 114th National Convention in Boston, the NAACP passed an Emergency Resolution on the “Protection of Cannabis Workers,” and also reaffirmed its previously passed cannabis resolutions.
UFCW released a statement applauding the passage of the resolution.
“This marks a crucial step forward in making sure employers and legislators understand the profound impact that a worker-friendly cannabis industry could have on people of color,” UFCW International President Marc Perrone said in a statement.
“Cannabis industry workers, like every other worker, deserve safe workplaces and family-sustaining jobs. This is especially true for the formerly incarcerated and others disproportionately affected by the War on Drugs.”
New Hampshire: Gov. Sununu signs bill to study cannabis legalization.
This week, Gov. Chris Sununu signed House Bill 611, a bill that will explore legalization through a state-run lens. The bill also bans most intoxicating hemp-derived cannabinoid products over 0.3%.
“New Hampshire has an opportunity to safely regulate the sale of marijuana with a model few others can provide,” Sununu said in a statement.
“By establishing a commission to study state-controlled sales, this bill will bring stakeholders from across New Hampshire together to ensure that preventing negative impacts upon kids remains our number one priority.”
California’s enforcement task force sets record on “organized” cannabis growers.
In July, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce conducted a huge operation in Siskiyou County (east of the Emerald Triangle and located on the Oregon border).
Officials seized unregulated cannabis worth $68.5 million and a dozen guns in its “largest operation to date, targeting growers that harm the environment and the public through the use of unlawful pesticides and toxic chemicals.”
