Colorado to incentivize energy efficiency.
This week, the Colorado Energy Office will open applications for its new Cannabis Resource Optimization Program.
The program will give growers financing and technical assistance to reduce their energy costs, including, for example, facility audits to “identify impactful efficiency improvements, such as installing LED fixtures or upgrading HVAC systems.”
Gov. Jared Polis’ announcement points to the fact that “banks have been reluctant to provide affordable financing options for cannabis businesses” as a reason that “cultivators are unable to invest in efficiency improvements that could not only save them and their customers money, but could also help reduce emissions from the cannabis sector as a whole.”
So what, exactly, is Amsterdam proposing?
The city council hasn’t proposed an outright ban on cannabis consumption, but on consumption on the streets, calling it a “nuisance.” The council warned that if the “nuisance” continues, they might propose banning cannabis consumption on coffee shop terraces, too.
Public comment on the proposal is open until March 9.
Congress: vet and cannabis bill is on the agenda this week
Cannabis Wire was first to report, last Monday, that Sen. Jon Tester’s VA Medicinal Cannabis Research Act was on the way. By Thursday, it was formally announced.
This week, we’re first to report that the bill is on the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs meeting agenda for Thursday.
